November Recap & December Goals
How is it possibly the last month of 2016? This year has been a blink. I'm already preparing to feel emotional as it comes to a close and am hoping to savor these last 31 days as much as possible. 2016 has been my jam.
Contrary to how the year flew, November felt like it lasted a long time in the best way. It was crazy warm in Georgia (it's 70 right now as I write this with my windows open), so it never really felt like November.
I went home to Indiana to surprise my brother for his birthday, go to my friend, Sara's, engagement shower and meet with potential partners for The Letter Project. While I was there, Sara scored us free classes to Shred415 Indy, which I l-o-v-e-d.
We voted in shorts, which may be a first.
We took a trip to Chattanooga with our friend, Kate, where we started our day with canoeing and coffee and the deepest breaths.
We drank good coffee! We finally went to Refuge Coffee and then asked ourselves why we'd never been before (New Atlanta Bucket List #11). We also snuck in a trip to one of our favorite spots in town: Brash. Their almond milk latte. I can't even. We also went to 8Arm, which was delicious and worth a visit.
We celebrated 6 months of marriage at Desta Ethiopian Kitchen, which is extremely gluten free friendly. I liked it, Chris loved it :)
I spent my first Thanksgiving away from Indiana. It was hard not to be with my family. It was also awesome to be with Chris. Ah, growing up! So bitter and sweet all at once.
We got our first Christmas tree! It's small because we wanted to support Inman Middle School and their trees are a leeetle pricey. We named him Tiny Piney and we love him!
Last, but certainly not least, I re-homed and revived my plant, Stu the Bamboo. I shared the process on my Insta story and am thrilled to share that Stu is doing great :) #proudparents
Here's how I did on November goals:
1. Promote and grow The Letter Project // I don't think this will ever be done, per se, but I did it! We partnered with Erin Condren and got professional photos taken. I spoke at Emory and we have a few more business ideas in the works. We also sent out 500 letters! And, when I say "we" I am referring to me + my intern Abby. She's a dream.
2. Finish my presentation for Emory // Done! Emory students are the bomb.
3. Read Sully // Not done. I couldn't get into it. I switched to Carry On, Warrior mid-month.
4. Start a new bible study // Did it! Loving it.
5. Learn about SEO optimization on SquareSpace // Done! I renamed and uploaded all of the pictures to The Letter Project to optimize it.
December goals:
Now, on to December goals as we wrap up this beautiful year!
1. Send 500 Letter Project letters this month alone // We sent 500 in the first six weeks and I think we can do it again in the next four. Nominate your friends to receive letters!
2. Start the process for establishing The Letter Project as a 501c3 // This will open up more partnership opportunities, but I've heard the paperwork is a real headache. Wish me luck?
3. Finish Carry On, Warrior
4. Stretch twice a week // I am super tight and feel like I have a lot of little pains everywhere. I know I need to be stretching more, so I am committing to a Tuesday, Thursday schedule. Somehow, I feel this may be the hardest goal.
5. Try a Sabbath Sunday // I recently downloaded Nancy Ray's #WorkHardSabbathHard guide. First of all, I pretty much love everything Nancy Ray creates and highly recommend following. Second of all, this guide is awesome. Chris and I both felt convicted to try it, which is going to take some major shifts for us. But, we're committed to trying it one Sunday this month.
And that, my friends, is how I'll wrap up 2016! Let's do this, December!
